Pronouns

To avoid being publicly executed, I will say that I don't care about anyone being gay, trans, et cetera. But I do believe that inventing new pronouns is something totally unnecessary. Modifying a language because a minority doesn't feel like a man nor a woman doesn't help its cause in any way and opens the door to even more insane proposals to surgically disfigure the tongue. (C'est aussi un problème pour d'autres langues comme le Français: Xiel/Xae, Iel/Lae... avec d'autres particularités comme la terminaison des mots: les étudiant·e·x·s...) I believe that minorities should work towards removing the gendered connotation linked to the default pronouns and making them refer to one's biological gender instead, as this one will almost always be binary. This would remove the need to butcher every gendered language. And yes, some people will slip through this interpretation, but sadly perfect inclusiveness is not possible to achieve. There will always be some sort of gray zone in regard to gendered languages, simply because of the completely understandable assumptions they made while evolving.

Moreover, I don't think you can forcefully bend a tongue to fit your beliefs. You can change the way you speak, sure, but trying to artificially create social pressure to make others do the same is... pretty petty, I would say. If people agree with or don't mind your changes to the tongue, they may just start using them too. If they don't, try again another time.

No one has rights over a language. It'll change, at its own pace. But, if the current efforts to forcefully rewrite them do establish new, lasting standards, I'll have to make do, begrudgingly.
