Good community servers
For a while now, TF2 has been lacking in good, populated servers which have maps other that ctf_2fort in their rotation. If we take into account the facts that Casual was, is and will always be the inferior way to play TF2 (no matter what some... misinformed souls might say), uncletopia servers are diet competitive servers masquerading as ""casual"" ones, and Skial is... Skial, this excludes a lot of entries. So here is a list of some community servers that I believe may be of interest to some. Some of them do not try to replicate the old spirit of TF2 servers but are still included. As of writing, some servers listed here are among the few places where you can still play maps like pl_cactuscanyon or rd_asteroid with people! Woah.
Most good community servers do not have a Discord group.

Ever heard of them?
They follow a simple concept: recreate the server rules from the quickplay era
(45 min rounds, etc) and revert whatever nerfs were made to weapons
in the last few updates, such as the Sandman, the Ambassador or the B.A.S.E
Jumper (which were huge mistakes for most of them). One then has access to a much
larger arsenal of useful weapons to choose from if they don't want to only stick to
what some... people would call the ‑ahem‑ "meta". They have opened a
few servers on multiple locations around the world (NA/EU/AUS/AS) so chances are
you can have decent ping on one of them. The servers' moderation is practically
nonexistent which, believe it or not, makes them overall more fun.
It was first announced on /tf2g/ and has since then acquired a somewhat strong following.
All needed informations can be found on their website. Don't forget to view the unofficial AND official trailers.
Konata.tf
This is a serber hosted in the EU which follows as well the serber rules that were in use when quickplay still existed. It's a very simple serber which has no to little moderation and is as close to vanilla TF2 as you can get. Its main feature is that it does not let people choose which maps they want to play on, preventing 24/7 badwater or upward scenarios. Instead, players can !skip the map the serber is currently running. Doing so ensures that a wider variety of maps will be played while still giving players an enjoyable experience.
It was first announced on /tf2g/ by konatafag and thanks to that was able to get fully populated multiple times. Although recently, it has become harder to gather enough players (but it still does happen).

Kogasatopia

BOO!
This is a server opened by the very high-IQ members of /bant/. Following the boards'
spirit, in its map pool are a number of custom maps or reskins revolving around the
Touhou universe. This server is located in the US so europeans are a bit out of luck,
sadly. A lot of care has been put in this server and I would say that it shows.
In opposition to other community servers in this list, this one has
rules. Yes, they may not sound very welcoming,
in which case this server might not be for you. This however should not discourage
anyone who wants to take a peek at the content this server offers.
Do feel free to join: regulars don't miss a chance to use their microphone.
Note that the server is more fun if you install their curated list of mods.

Desuroom Revival
One map only: Harbl Hotel. What do you need more? Exactly.
This server follows the steps of the original
Desuroom which closed down in 2016. Low gravity and all-talk are ON,
micspamming is encouraged and moderation is nonexistent. The server is located
in the US, but this shouldn't be much of a problem for players from other regions
considering the nature of this server.
Don't forget to check out their website desu.
Update: as of 2025, the website and server seem to be down.
